Part A - Media Language and Representation.
Media Language;
- Cinematography - Camera work, e.g. Camera angles and movements.
- Editing - Editing done to film such as, Special effects, transitions, fast/slow pace.
- Sound - Sounds heard on film e.g. Diagetic sounds (What the audience and character hears) Non diagetic (Only the audience hears, e.g. soundtrack).
- Mise en Scene - This consists of everything in a scene e.g. Location, Lighting, Props, Make up etc.
Representation;
How each group are portrayed by the media
- Age
- Gender
- Ethnicity
- Sexuality
- Regional Identity
- Ability/disability
- Class/Social Status
We will have to analyse a 5 minute clip from a TV show. We will be expected to use technical elements of Media Language.
In section B we will be tested by answering a question on the film industry using two case study films. (Attack the Block and Harry Potter).
